Enjoy a scenic 70-minute drive from Hobart city, we travel up through the historic coal valley, up and over break'me'neck and bust'me'gall hills. Following the pretty Prosser river arriving in the seaside town of Orford and Triabunna.
Onboard the new, Maria Island Ferry, we travel across the Mercury Passage, keeping an eye out for dolphins and sea birds.
Arriving on the island we will welcome you with a brief history talk before setting off on short walk to the World Heritage Darlington Convict Site to visit some unqiue ruins.
We will set off on a 1.5hr walk to view the wild wombats of Maria Island. Mostly found on the grazing fields around the convict site.
Get up close with these curious native animals, however do not touch them as they do bite and can become aggressive.
Depending on the day we will walk to either the Fossil or Painted cliffs to view some beautiful Natural sites of the island.
We will see other native animals such as Kangaroos, Cape Barron Geese, Naive Hens, Pademelons and Shore Birds.

If we are lucky we'll see the wombats enjoy a walk on the beach before we jump back onboard the ferry for the return journey.
Depart the the island on the 3:30 ferry Arriving approx. 5:30pm back to Hobart.
